Travel Tips

GETTING TO SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE

TLDR; Good things take time

San Miguel is a beautiful place and requires a bit of work to get to. The most convenient route is flying into Queretaro Airport (~1 hour drive away from San Miguel de Allende).

For the scenic route - you can also schedule a private car using daytrip from Mexico City to San Miguel de Allende (3.5 hour drive). We have used it before and it is always a smooth, reliable experience. I'm sure some of you will be spending time in Mexico City or elsewhere in Mexico before, which is a wonderful idea!

WHAT AIRPORTS SHOULD I FLY INTO?

We would love if everyone could attend all events planned for the weekend! If you plan on attending these events, we encourage you to book your flights sooner rather than later.

(QRO) QUERETARO AIRPORT, MX

1 Hour Drive Away From San Miguel de Allende

Airlines: United, American Airlines, Delta, Air Canada, Aeromexico, and Volaris fly here!

(BJX) DEL BAJIO AIRPORT, LEON/GUANAJUATO

1 Hour/30 Min Drive From San Miguel de Allende

Airlines: United, Delta/ AirMexico and American fly here!

(MEX) JUAREZ INTL, MEXICO CITY, MX

3.5 hour drive from San Miguel de Allende

** Guests traveling from New York and London: Note that there are no direct flights to Queretaro Airport (QRO) or Del Bajio Leon Airport (BJX) - and most traveling will connect through Mexico City (MEX). We recommend spending a day or so in Mexico City if you can extend your trip!

Traveling from Mexico City

As I imagine many of you will, spending time in Mexico City before the wedding is a perfect idea. One of our favorite cities and a lovely way to break up the trip.

In terms of traveling from CDMX to San Miguel, we recommend using Daytrip which is available globally for private city-to-city transfers; we have used it in Mexico City and has always been a smooth, reliable experience.

CREDIT CARDS & CASH

Most places in San Miguel accept credit cards, but here and there cash will come in very handy (especially if you want street food).

GETTIN' AROUND (SAN MIGUEL) TOWN

Get Your Steps In

San Miguel is a pleasantly walkable city to explore (reminder: San Miguel has beautiful cobblestone streets - so pack comfortable footwear).

Uber/ Taxi Drivers In and Around Town

If you want to explore further, we encourage you to do so via Uber, hailing green taxis, or asking your hotel to arrange a taxi for you. If hailing cabs, remember to bring your pesos!

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE?

Expect splendid high temperatures around 83°F (30°C) during the day and and lows around 52°F (11°C) at the dead of night. You can expect plenty of sunshine during the day and definitely a breezy evening, so bring that sweater/light jacket. April is a also dry month with almost no rainfall (we hope!).

You may find you'll go from wearing shorts and a t shirt in the heart of the day to then wearing a sweater and flowy pants come dinner!
